Thanksgiving Weekend

People just love Thanksgiving here! We've been off since Thursday! So far we've relaxed and explored the town...We went to a mall called Tyson's Corner yesterday...It was really big! The day after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday. It's the equivalent to Can's Boxing Day. They had an Urban Outfitters, Disney Store, Forever 21, Bloomingdales, Discovery Channel Store and lots more! There were many stores like Zara in Laval. Lots of good deals too.

Here's a pic of the pond across the street from our place. Vegas and I had fun watching the geese. There are about 60 geese here. Marc laughed at me...I really counted them! Before I took this pic, they were spread out all over the grass. Then Vegas ran toward the water, and they made their way to the middle of the pond. They were huge! Did I mention that there is ABSOLUTELY no challenge in hunting here? You just have to pull up beside them with your car, and tell them to hop onto your hood.

Marc found a cool path about a 5 minute walk from our place. Vegas can run full out there. Didn't see any other dogs, aside from the pit bull that came out of nowhere and scared the living poop out of me (that poop was for you Kristi). Then all I heard was,"Git over here you!", from somewhere in the bushes. That was pretty much the end of that dog. I thought dog people were friendly.

Behind our place.

Baby Veg and I in bed together on our first night here. I'm not smiling in this pic, he's squishing my face.
We also went somewhere but I can't talk about it until you receive your gifts girls. You'll find out soon enough!
Take care everyone!

I Hate Bambi

Does this animal look cute to you? Beware of this animal my friends. It carries a nasty little bug called the tick. There are many species of tick out there. If your dog gets bitten by one of these babies, he could get lyme disease and die. So guess what? I found not one but two on Vegas. My already huge fear of bugs has been reinforced by this experience. Vegas got his shot before we left Mtl. A guy at work told us his dog had his shots but still got it, and is about to be put down. Lovely isn't it. I've been worrying myself sick about it, and have been watching Vegas like a hawk to see if he displays any symptoms. Unfortunately by the time you notice the symptoms its sometimes too late. The guy at work was there when we took it off of Vegas, he said it was not a deer tick. He assured me it wasn't anything ot worry about. Anyway, I gave him a bath this evening and applied tick repellent.
What's going on here?!?
No joke seeing a deer here is like seeing a squirrel in Montreal. They're everywhere. I was at a stop light and there were three deer just grazing by a tree just twenty feet away from me. This was at a busy intersection!

First Weekend in VA

(Vegas' air matress, sorry about the eyes)
Hello everyone! We had wonderful weather this weekend. Well, Saturday at least. Friday was 24 and Saturday was 22! I had to change into a T-Shirt...We went to Springfield to get Vegas his food. It's the only place we know of to get it. No, we didn't see Homer and Marge while we were there. It's a nice town. The homes remind me of the bungalows in the West Island. The leaves are still on the trees, so it made for a nice drive.

We also moved more of our things but we will have to wait until MB gets back to move the big stuff, like the washer/dryer, and the couch. The kitchen has been pretty much put together. I can't believe how much kitchen stuff we have! I remember moving into our condo and wondering if we would ever fill all the cupboard space!

Today is pretty crummy, the rain and the wind hasn't let up at all.

So I decided to explore the local shops. I went to a cool store called Home Goods, which is pretty much like Winners Home Sense. I went to Pet Smart to pick up a new toy for Vegas (which I think he has already destroyed). There is also a Target/Super Target near our place, which is kind of like a higher end Wal-Mart. You can do your groceries there too.

Our neighbours have a 4 month old doberman. He's pretty big for his age. He runs around like a wild horse when it rains just like Vegas! I think they're related. Vegas is much cuter and sweeter though ;)

Here are a few things I like about Virginia so far,

  • It's not Quebec (Marc)

  • Our place. Esp. our fireplace. Vegas and I curled up together there this evening. He passed out right away! It was nice and cozy. He's being very good by the way. He's peeing on everything in the neighbouhood. Gainesville belongs to him now.

  • My own private poop room (seperate from the bathroom)with a view.

  • The old plantation homes with way too much land. They're beautiful. They don't do anything with the property anymore. It's just acres of freshly trimmed grass! I also like the new colonial style homes.

  • People respect the rules of the road, and are actually courteous!

  • The men are better looking. Melissa, you need to come here a.s.a.p. They're the "All American" good looks type of guy, and there are as many hot guys, as there are American flags.

I will post some pics of the town and surrounding area once, we're settled in. I'm off to bed, back to work in the morning! Hope everyone has a good week!

Powder room. Its in the front entrance...
One of the closets in the front entrance. The door to the garage is just next to this closet. Don't ask me why there are two closets.
There are 14 stairs to go up to get to the main floor. There are roughly 40 stairs in the house! Yes, we had fun moving in.

Santa is Really Satan Spelled Backwards (kind of)

Ho Ho Ho Woof Woof! What do tons of dogs, lots of food and Santa Paws equal? Mayhem! Annick and I went to see Santa today...She brought Dolce too. Needless to say Santa's finger will never look the same again! Dolce wasn't too cheerful with this jolly fellow, and poor Santa had to go have a quick ciggy after posing with us! Vegas was none too impressed by the experience either... It was for a good cause, they had plenty of treats, and it got them nice and tired! Yipee, mission accomplished. http://www.rosieanimaladoption.org/availablepets.htm

Dinner at the Wilson's

Annick's fam invited me over for an awesome going away dinner. We had alfredo pasta with shrimp and yummy salad. We also had the coolest dessert. Mamabear baked big muffins inside mini pumpkins covered in a glaze! I wish I had a pic of that to show you, it was really nice... After dinner Annick and I carved some pumpkins...Annick carved the skeleton one, mine is the the wolf...
